How to Become a Personal Trainer
Patience my friend, patience. While there is great potential to earn lots of money in the field--there is the same potential to fail. Becoming a trainer is not a job, it is a career that requires dedication and passion. It is a career track where education pays instantly. The more you know, the more your client base will grow.
Potential clients can smell desperation and fakes instantly. Know your craft--if you can’t afford a hands on education (which is the best) New York Sports Club gives discounts to floor trainers for NASM certification. While the pay is degrading initially, there is a great opportunity to move up quickly once you have your certification. In NYC, that is rare. Other clubs such as Bally’s and New York Health and New York Health & Racquet Club expect you to hustle for clients sans pay. If you have what it takes (and a nest egg) there are opportunities, however most of us don’t. Below is a directory of learning aides, certs and gyms.
